3 Browns defenders that could be used in trick plays on offense during the 2024 NFL season

We’re at the most boring part of the NFL’s year-long schedule where there is no free agency, draft, team practices, or games taking place.
For the Cleveland Browns, they will be off until the end of July when they begin their training camp at The Greenbrier in West Virginia.
Now until then, there is not a whole lot to talk about when it comes to team news. However, this is the time to get creative and think outside of the box.
Former Browns linebacker and current New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis brought up a good discussion point on X, wondering what defensive players could play on offense. So, who for the Browns would have a chance?
DE Myles Garrett
The speed and strength that Garrett combines with athleticism at his size makes him an obvious candidate here. The resigning Defensive Player of the Year is a standout basketball player, he can do it all.
At his size and the way he can move, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have Garrett be your H-back on offense. Garrett can take direct snaps and get tough yards, or someone you look to get the ball to in the red zone.
He wouldn’t be as dominant on offense as he is at rushing the passer, but something tells me that Garrett could be a headache to defend.
DT Mike Hall Jr.
It is simple when it comes to what Hall can do here. Take him back to his high school days, where they lined him up as the fullback on offense, and watch out. Hall’s burst at 285 pounds isn’t often seen.
Hall could clear the way for a running back to get through a gap or you could hand it off to him at the one-yard line to punch it in. Hall’s combination of get-off and strength would be an issue for opposing linebackers that he looks to clear out of the way at the next level.
CB Denzel Ward
After taking two defensive linemen, it made sense to switch it up a bit. Here, I take the fastest player on the team and try to get the ball in space to him on offense. Ward is a guy with a 4.3 speed that accelerates quickly and could be a gadget player.
Think of that time a few years ago when Ward jumped the pass to Ja’Marr Chase and was an issue for the Bengals to bring down on the near 100-yard interception return. Halfway through it he even made Joe Burrow look silly.
Ward isn’t going to absorb much contact and he’s going to her easy to bring down once you get your hands on him. I’d trust Kevin Stefanski to get the ball in space and give him room to work, which could lead to good things.
