Cleveland Browns looked to have dodged a bullet when it came to the injury with their Pro Bowl cornerback.
Denzel Ward took a shot to the head/neck area from Baltimore Ravens LT Ronnie Stanley in a sequence that clearly was not a football play. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Ward is expected to be okay with what is being called a minor neck strain.
Initially, there was worry that Ward potentially suffered another concussion on the clear shot to the head area, which was helmet to helmet. It being a minor injury is a win for the Browns and good news for his availability in Week 11 against the Steelers.
There was no flag called on the play and it was not reviewed at all. It was a weird look for the NFL, who is supposed to care closely about head/neck injuries. Ward was ruled out of the game and did not play the entire second half. Cleveland was able to go on and win without him by a score of 33-31.
All in all, the report is good news and the NFL will surely be handing down a fine to Stanley once the play is reviewed.
