On Tuesday, Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson took an important step in returning to the field following a season-ending shoulder injury.

Watson had surgery to repair a displaced fracture in the glenoid in his throwing shoulder. It was an injury that Watson suffered against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 10.

Rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson started and got the win against the Steelers last week. Kevin Stefanski said that the rookie will start again in Week 12 against the Broncos.

“Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson underwent surgery today to repair a displaced fractured to the glenoid in his right shoulder. The surgery was performed by Neal ElAttrache, MD, in Los Angeles and was deemed successful. The rehab process is scheduled to begin on Friday, and a full recovery is expected prior to the start of the 2024 season,” the Browns released in a statement.

The important thing here is that the return is expected prior to the 2024 season. It is acceptable to think that Watson will be ready before training camp next season and will get to take part in some off-season activities.

It was unfortunate for Cleveland to lose their starting quarterback after he was showing signs that he potentially could return to the player he once was.

Cleveland will roll on and lean on their top-flight defense in 2023 and hope that the quarterback play will be enough. Watson will be on his road to recovery in the meantime.
