Cleveland Browns made a great choice on who the game back will go to after the gutsy 13-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In his first game back in the booth since beginning leukemia treatments again when he stepped away back in Sept, no one deserved the ball more than play-by-play announcer Jim Donovan.
“So excited about Jimmy Donovan. I'm going to make sure he gets a game ball…I'm going to hand one to him here in a little bit,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said after the win.
Before the game, Donovan was picked to do the guitar smashing, sort of a pregame staple at Browns games to get fans pumped up. Cleveland fans loved to see him out there.
Browns picking up the win in Week 11 was that much more important, as everyone knows what the Browns mean to Donovan.
Donovan was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia in 2000, which began a decade-long battle with the disease. He had a bone marrow transplant in the summer of 2011 and has been monitoring since.
Even though the Browns received some great efforts on the field, perhaps none was more important than Donovan’s presence.
