There is a big opportunity for the Browns in Week 14 that could end up being pivotal in the AFC playoff seeding.

On Thursday Night Football, the Pittsburgh Steelers fell to the New England Patriots with Mitchell Trubisky running their offense. Pittsburgh now has six losses on the season and Cleveland could hold second place in the AFC North by a game with a win on Sunday over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Cleveland already needed to get a win at home after losing two straight road games to the Broncos and Rams. Hosting the Jaguars gives the Browns a chance to win a game over an AFC opponent.

Kenny Pickett went down for the Steelers last week against the Arizona Cardinals and did not play against the Patriots. Pickett isn’t great, but not playing surely had an impact on the outcome. Nonetheless, the loss for the Steelers is something the Browns will gladly accept.

Cleveland and Pittsburgh split their two games this season. The Ravens are 9-3 and have a two game lead on the division. A win would help for wildcard seeding the most.

Trevor Lawrence may or may not play for Cleveland, that is going to be an impact one way or another. But back at home is a place where the Browns defense has been elite, unlike on the road, and that showed the last week.

With Cleveland’s situation on offense, it’s just not going to lead them. The defense needs to get back to their ways for the Browns to take advantage of the loss the Steelers took in Week 14.
