Typically, NFL free agency is reserved for players, since coaches and front office members can sign anywhere, and anytime if they aren't under contract.
And for former Titans HC Mike Vrabel, he's been on the market since Tennessee parted ways with him at the end of the 2023 season.
But per Adam Schefter of ESPN, that is changing:
Browns Hire Mike Vrabel
A former OSU Buckeye turned Pittsburgh Steeler and New England Patriot, Vrabel is an old-school linebacker that coaches the game the way he played it:
Tough, brash, and with no nonsense.
Tennessee's decision to part ways with Vrabel surprised many in football, with Vrabel lauded as a good coach by nearly everyone, but a great coach by many both in and around the league.
His tenure as HC of the Titans included an above .500 record of 54-45 over six years including a trip to the AFC Championship as a number one seed.
But personnel decisions and rebuilding saw the Titans fall on hard times last season, with the team going 6-11 (the worst record of Vrabel's tenure) and allowed ownership to pull the plug in favor of a fresh start.
And while this will likely be merely a blip on the radar for Vrabel's coaching career, it's a mutually beneficial relationship as the Browns add one of football's best defensive minds, and Vrabel get's the chance to remind league circles why he deserves another shot at being a head coach.
