We are finally here. Less than 90 minutes until the first 1 p.m. slate of NFL football kicks off for the season.
It will be the Cleveland Browns hosting the Cincinnati Bengals in an AFC North matchup to start the year.
The Battle of Ohio has been dominated by the Browns as of late but none of that matters with a new season coming about.
Injuries are going to play a bigger role later in the season, though they will have some early impacts in this one.
Cleveland has just one player listed with an injury designation, safety Juan Thornhill is questionable to play with a calf injury. Thornhill was limited In Wednesday’s practice and did not participate the next two days.
In good news for the Browns, cornerback Denzel Ward is good to go after clearing concussion protocol late in the week. Ward had suffered the injury late in the preseason against the Kansas City Chiefs and was sidelined just under two weeks. Having Ward back out there with a player like Ja’Marr Chase on the other side is huge.
Cleveland is going to have rookie defensive tackle Siaki Ika inactive for Week 1. It is not a total surprise with what the Bengals want to do on offense.
The Bengals will be without defensive end Joseph Ossai, one of their top pass rushers. Ossai is dealing with an ankle sprain that he suffered during training camp.
Cleveland’s inactive list:
S Juan Thornhill
CB Kahlef Hailasse
C Luke Wypler
DE Isaiah McGuire
DT Siaki Ika
