It was going out and getting Jim Schwartz to become their defensive coordinator. It resulted in the Browns having a top-level defense and was a big reason they grabbed 11 wins.
With that being said, Schwartz has been named the AP Assistant Coach of the Year award in the NFL. The award was revealed at the NFL Honors.
2023 was the first season for Schwartz with the Browns as mentioned and it couldn’t have gone better. Schwartz’s aggressive style for the defense paid off and it is another big reason that Myles Garrett is up for Defensive Player of the Year award tonight.
A huge win for the Browns is the fact that they were able to hang on to Schwartz through the recent coaching carousel. It was a thought that Schwartz may have some interest, but he did not end up receiving an interview from a team.
A nice accolade for Schwartz and what he did for the Browns to help them take a huge leap on the defensive side of the ball. Expect big things from his unit in 2024.
