Joe Flacco has now appeared in two games for the Cleveland Browns after being signed a few weeks ago. If you weren’t seeing him on television with the Browns, there’s a chance you’d still see him on TV, though he wouldn’t be playing football.
Interestingly enough, Flacco had an interest in joining Inside the NFL, which airs on The CW. Cleveland has to be thankful that the route did not work out for him and that he now wears orange and brown.
“I’ll tell you a secret. Joe Flacco actually tried out and auditioned for Inside The NFL, which I host on Tuesday,” said Ryan Clark. “I’m glad we didn’t take him, Joe Flacco is absolutely throwing the skin off of the football.”
In two games so far with the Browns, Flacco has tossed for 565 yards and five touchdowns. Flacco has thrown two interceptions, with one being intercepted on a rub route. At 38 years old, Flacco threw for 311 passing yards in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Flacco became the first Browns’ quarterback to throw for 300 yards this season.
Flacco remains on the Browns practice squad and despite some misinformation out there that another team could be soon taking him, that is not going to happen. Flacco will stay on the practice squad for another week at most before moving to the active roster. For a team to sign Flacco, he would have to agree to leave Cleveland. That isn’t happening.
“He spoke in the locker room after the game and you could hear a pen drop,” said Clark. “It is difficult to get a group of men who just won an exciting football game to be dead silent. It shows the type of command he has over that locker room, the respect he has (received) about the way he’s gone about his work.”
Cleveland sits at 8-5 on the season with four games remaining. To ensure they have a spot in the playoffs, Cleveland needs to go at least 2-2 over the next four weeks. With how Flacco has been playing, they’ll have a chance.
