The job that Kevin Stefanski has done with the Cleveland Browns isn’t being talked about enough but that could soon change.
According to BetOnline’s odds, Stefanski is the favorite to win NFL Coach of the Year at +125 odds. He is ahead of Dan Campbell (+240) and Shane Steichen (+700).
Cleveland is 10-5 on the season and has dealt with an unreal amount of injuries this season that began at the very beginning of the season.
The Browns lost Nick Chubb for the season in Week 2 and it took some air out of them. Deshaun Watson played five full games for the Browns this season but first hurt his shoulder in Week 3 and was lost for the season after Week 10.
Still, Stefanski has found ways to win with four different starting quarterbacks this season and a boatload of other injuries. Cleveland will soon be heading into the playoffs with their No. 4 and No. 5 offensive tackles.
Back in 2020 during Stefanski’s rookie season as a coach, Cleveland made the playoffs and he won the award then. He very well could be adding the award for the second time in four seasons.
Usually, the award goes to a deserving first-year coach who instantly makes an impact. Steichen fits that mold with the Colts, as does DeMeco Ryans with the Texans.
If the Browns win 11 games, Stefanski is Coach of the Year and I’ve been confident in that happening since November.
Browns most likely postseason opponent becoming more clear
Cleveland is likely heading to the playoffs, but what about the top seed?
