Cleveland Browns are focused on the NFL Combine at the moment, but while that’s going on the Browns also have lost a member of their coaching staff.

Offensive assistant Jonathan DeCoster is leaving the Browns to head to coach in the college football landscape. DeCoster is expected to join the Florida Gators, according to 247 Sports.

Since the college football season ended, there has been a flood of coaches leaving and heading for the NFL level. This isn’t no coincidence, as the college football landscape is the most different it’s ever been between NIL and teams shifting conferences. There haven’t been as nearly many coaches leaving the professional level to head to college.

DeCoster has been with the Browns as an assistant on the offensive side of things since 2021. He has spent time as a graduate assistant at Nevada and LSU. Before coming to Cleveland, DeCoster coached tight ends at Old Dominion in 2020.

So far since the season ended, the Browns have hired Ken Dorsey to be the new offensive coordinator as well as Tommy Reese (tight ends), Duce Staley (running backs), and Jacques Cesaire (defensive line).

Now, the Browns will have to find themselves another offensive assistant to join Kevin Stefanski’s staff.
