Something about the Cleveland Browns and contract restructures just goes hand in hand. They’ve completed another one on Wednesday.
Cleveland opted to restructure the contract of right guard Wyatt Teller. It was a move that created about $9.13 million in cap space, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
Recently, the Browns have been on a streak of restructuring contracts. Jedrick Wills Jr., David Njoku, Myles Garrett, and Joel Bitonio have all had their deals reworked.
It is thought to be that the Browns are creating cap space to roll over to next year. The rollover will help deflate the fact that the Browns are over the cap for 2024 by more than $50 million.
Teller is the latest of the restructures. The Pro Bowl right guard isn’t a free agent until 2026 but his dead cap drops from $23 million this year to just $7 million next year. If the Browns want to move on from him, It’s an option for them to take a look at to save more cap space.
Andrew Berry and the Browns’ front office appear to be done with contract restructures for the season, as today marked the end of the NFL top-51 cap space rule.
