The Cleveland Browns are breezing through the offseason and are already past the first phases of OTAs.

This offseason, the Browns have made some intriguing moves such as the acquisition of WR Jerry Jeudy. Cleveland added five draft picks in the 2024 NFL Draft as well that could contribute.

Now that things are a bit quiet, I wanted to touch on a few veteran players who simply may not be with Cleveland next year for various reasons.

RT Jack Conklin

Availability is important and Conklin hasn’t had much consistency in that department as of late. Conklin was lost to a knee injury in the first game of the season in 2023. Previously to that, he missed three games in 2022 and played in just seven in 2021.

When Conklin is on the field, he has been a Pro Bowl talent. The Browns ran into finding out that Dawand Jones was ready to start in the NFL due to Conklin’s injury. The fourth-round pick started nine games as a rookie and looked the part.

Cleveland has Conklin under contract through the 2026 season. If he shows he is healthy this season, the Browns very well could move him following the season to open an avenue for Jones to be out there. The option of Jones at left tackle should be on the table as well.

Conklin is aging and hasn’t been healthy as of late. If Cleveland can plug in a player who showed great promise as a rookie by moving Conklin for a fair deal, do it.

RB Nick Chubb

It is not known when Chubb will be ready to play in the 2024 season, but the Browns do expect him back from his major knee injury and things are trending in a good direction. The Browns reworked his deal to keep him around this season and give both sides security following the scary injury suffered last season.

Chubb has been great since being drafted in Cleveland and is a fan favorite. If he comes out in 2024 and shows he is still elite and arguably the best running back in the NFL, the Browns likely look to give him a two-year extension. If Chubb looks to have lost a step, the Browns may not resign him after this Watson.

WR Elijah Moore

Moore had an opportunity to take over the future of the WR2 position in Cleveland last season and didn’t grasp it as the trade for WR Jerry Jeudy showed. Now, Moore and Jeudy will battle it out to be the top secondary option to complement Amari Cooper.

Moore had 640 yards last season and it was the most he had in a season, but there was room for more growth and inconsistencies showed in moments.

The future of the wide receiver position is a questionable one with Moore only under contract through the 2024 season. Perhaps the Browns figure out a deal in the season if things trend the right way, or it playing out in free agency is another possibility. We can look at the first 10 games as a good measuring stick in this situation, ideally. Whether or not Moore was a two-season rental from the Jets will play out in time.
