S John Johnson III – $8.85 million

DE Jadeveon Clowney – $4.8 million

WR Jakeem Grant – $666,668

DT Perrion Winfrey $406,400

K Cade York $364,820

WR Anthony Schwartz $224,186

DT Tommy Togiai $169,286

Right away, Johnson and Clowney jump off the list as two former starters for the Browns. Additionally, the final four players listed are all former draft picks.

Johnson is currently a free agent after going back and playing for the Los Angeles Rams last season. Clowney recently signed a two-year deal with the Carolina Panthers to return home.

Cleveland has welcomed York back on a futures deal for the offseason at least. Togiai and Schwartz are with the Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins respectively. Grant remains a free agent after suffering another significant injury in the preseason last year.

Cleveland has already allocated $270 million for their top-51 and they’ll pay $15 million in dead cap. No one said running a football team was cheap and sometimes you’re left paying ex-employees.
