It is a cloudy day in Cleveland that Browns fans wish had never come.

Myles Garrett has officially requested a trade from the Browns and is now calling on the team to move him after eight seasons in Cleveland. Cleveland has a decision to make on whether or not they will trade him, nonetheless, this is still a dark day for the franchise.

Garrett released in his statement that he just wants to win, essentially:

“As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl- and that goal fuels me today more than ever. My love for the community of Northeast Ohio and the incredible fanbase of the Cleveland Browns has made this one of the toughest decisions of my life. These past eight years have shaped me into the man that I am today. While I've loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won't allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”

Myles Garrett’s teammate shares a strong reaction to the news

It was known that Garrett requesting a trade was a possibility, he made that much known during the season when he called on the team to have a firm plan to show him that they plan on competing soon. Now, it looks like Garrett does not see that plan. Browns WR Michael Woods II got the news via an alert on his phone like most folks.

Garrett has been beloved by folks in Cleveland since the Browns took him No. 1 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. Since then, Garrett has racked up 102.5 sacks, six Pro Bowl nominations, and a Defensive Player of the Year award. No other defensive player in the NFL is game-planned for like Garrett is, which goes to show his value.

If Cleveland does end up trading Garrett, they will surely get a strong return of multiple draft picks and maybe more. However, that is not what anyone in Cleveland wants to see, inside the building or not. This could be a long couple of weeks in Northeast Ohio.
