The Pro Bowl has taken a nose dive in terms of the overall product over the last 20 years, but it’s probably the worst it’s ever been with no actual game being played.

Cleveland Browns have five players heading to the Pro Bowl and very well could have had four more. The Pro Bowl voting process is flawed from how positions are grouped to the actual voting.

You can check out who the Browns’ five Pro Bowlers are here. On the other hand, I’m going to point out the four that could have made it too.

LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah

It has been a breakout year for the 2021 second-round pick. Cleveland’s top linebacker has 98 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 2 interceptions. JOK has the second most tackles for a loss (20) in the NFL only behind Danielle Hunter and Maxx Crosby (21).

Unfortunately for JOK, he fits in with the outside linebackers in the Pro Bowl voting process. T.J. Watt, Khalil Mack, and Josh Allen took all three of those spots. The 3-4 pass rushers are almost always going to make it with the seasons they’ve had.

He is an alternate and one of the best in the NFL. At some point, JOK will eventually be a Pro Bowler.

K Dustin Hopkins

Hopkins’ case of not making it is simply because he’s playing behind the greatest kicker the NFL has ever had in Justin Tucker. Tucker was the Pro Bowler and it’s the same sort of treatment Michael Jordan got late in his career, it happens.

This season, Hopkins has made 33-of-36 field goals and that includes 8-of-8 from more than 50 yards. Tucker is 31-of-36 kicking and has only made 1-of-5 kicks from more than 50 yards.

It isn’t hard to see what happened there.

CB Martin Emerson Jr.

Cleveland has the luxury of having three really good cornerbacks. Denzel Ward made the Pro Bowl and Emerson deserved to be there. The thing that surprised me most was that Emerson wasn’t even an alternate.

Emerson was a gem of a find for the Browns in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft and immediately made an impact as a rookie. This season, he’s been a breakout player who has been at a top-10 level of play on an elite defense.

The second-year corner has had no problem finding the ball. He has four interceptions and 15 passes defended. One of the games' better big, physical defensive backs.

RG Wyatt Teller

Cleveland’s offensive line has been very injured this season at the tackle positions, but their Pro Bowl-level guards have helped hold things together. Joel Bitonio was rightfully a Pro Bowler, but his teammate very well should have been too.

Teller is back to being the mean blocking Teller we know this season. He’s already a two-time Pro Bowler but Teller’s 2023 season was very strong and could have been his third. His 72.9 PFF grade is the third-best of his career and an improvement from last year’s 70.3.

The Browns right guard is an alternate and could end up in the Pro Bowl games.
