Cleveland Browns did what no other team had surprisingly done yet on Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft and that is select Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders.

Sanders was projected to be a first-round quarterback by just about every draft analyst or at least a high second-round pick. Instead, the Browns ended up drafting him in the fifth round at pick No. 144.

Despite drafting Dillon Gabriel at the end of the third round, the Browns couldn’t pass up the value of landing Sanders in the fifth round. In his first bit of media availability, Sanders shared how he is going to come in and fit in.

“I know I’m going to fit in perfectly. I feel like it’s first getting in, showing respect to the vets, showing them I’m here ready to work,” Sanders said on Saturday. “Show the coaches and have them understand, I’m here ready to work. So they could actually understand the real me.

“That’s what I’m truly thankful to have, is the opportunity for people to actually see the real me and not be able to see stuff that could be true or not.”

Sanders threw for 37 touchdowns to 10 interceptions as a senior at Colorado and held a 74 percent completion percentage with 4,134 yards. Despite the two solid seasons in a row, Sanders wasn’t drafted in the first four rounds. The former Colorado quarterback did not do any testing through the process and was said to have had some poor interviews.

For the talented quarterback to come in saying the right things is what you want. Now, the hope is that Sanders falling in the draft gives him the drive to want to prove a lot of people wrong.
