Exactly what the Cleveland Browns didn’t need was a starter getting injured in the final weak before the preseason ends.

Safety Grant Delpit collided with wide receiver Jalen Wayne during practice on Wednesday that forced Delpit to exit.

The third-year safety appeared to be favoring his arm/shoulder as he walked away with a trainer.

It was just an unfortunate event where Wayne was running a post and Delpit was attempting to cross in front of him. Delpit appeared to be running to the flat and it looks like he did not see Wayne.

Delpit missed his entire rookie season in 2020 with a ruptured Achilles and was able to return and play in 15 games in 2021. In 2022, Delpit really came into form with four interceptions and started 16 games.

The good sign is that Delpit was able to raise up immediately after the pads popped between he and Wayne.

Behind Delpit is Rodney McLeod, Ronnie Hickman, and D’Anthony Bell. Right now the locks to make the team at safety are the starters, Delpit and Juan Thornhill, as well as McLeod.

UPDATE: According to a release from the team, Delpit is day-to-day with an arm injury.
