In Week 16 against the Houston Texans, the Cleveland Browns took care of business with a 36-22 win. Unfortunately, that outcome may have come with an injury ramification.

Cleveland’s kicker Dustin Hopkins left in the first half with a hamstring injury and did not return. Hopkins was running trying to tackle Texans RB Dameon Pierce on a kickoff that was returned for a touchdown.

The Browns had to go the remainder of the game attempting no extra points or field goals.

Hopkins was traded to Cleveland just before the start of the season when the Browns decided to move on from Cade York. Since then, he’s only been one of the best kickers in the game.

After the game, head coach Kevin Stefanski said that Hopkins would need an MRI.

Expect to see Hopkins as a Pro Bowl recipient. To this point in the season, Hopkins has made 33-of-36 field goals. Most impressive is that Hopkins hasn’t missed beyond 50 yards.

The worry is that Hopkins won’t be able to go in Week 17 on Thursday Night Football against the New York Jets. The quick turnarounds do no favors for NFL players.

Cleveland will likely bring in a couple of kickers this coming week who could take over for a game if needed. Hopkins is a weapon and any time missed hurts the Browns. A to Z Sports will provide updates when available.
