The recent big move for the Cleveland Browns looks like it is already paying off just a short time later.

Cleveland traded two late picks to the Denver Broncos for Jerry Jeudy, which filled a need that they may have been looking to fill in free agency.

One name that has come up for the Browns and is now off the board is WR Gabe Davis, who is set to sign a three-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars worth up to $50 million.

Jeudy is set to have a cap hit for the Browns of $12.9 million for the 2024 season and that now looks like a bargain. Jeudy came out the same year as David in 2020 and has had 3,053 receiving yards in seven fewer games than Davis recorded his 2,730 yards. When you account that Davis has played with Josh Allen for the course of his career, you wonder how much more his game can elevate, or if he is already there.

The Browns will have to get a new deal with Jeudy after this season that will likely take him above what Davis is making, but it appears to be a short-term saving for now. I must add that Jeudy is the better player with the higher ceiling that can still be reached in his career.

Davis was a name that came up with Ken Dorsey now being the offensive coordinator in Cleveland and the two spent time together in Buffalo.

Cleveland has yet to make a free agency signing but you can take this as a small win already. Find all the free agency signings for the Browns here, when they do begin those.

Missing out on Davis and trading for the better player prior to free agency and saving a little bit of cash is a in win in my book.
