Cleveland Browns have moved on from one of their own at the NFL trade deadline.
It was floated here at A to Z Sports that the Browns should trade WR Donovan Peoples-Jones and they have done just that. Cleveland sent Peoples-Jones to the Detroit Lions for a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Peoples-Jones was a sixth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft who improved steadily over the first three years of his career. The fourth year was the one that was the issue, Cleveland was never able to get Peoples-Jones involved this season.
Through seven starts this year, Peoples-Jones had just eight catches for 97 receiving yards. Elijah Moore had overtaken his production from last season and is the second wideout behind Amari Cooper.
The Michigan product climbed from 304 to 597 to 839 in the first three years of his career in receiving. He’s far exceeded anything you could ask for out of a sixth-round pick.
Cleveland gets something for a player they were likely to let walk after the season and it opens the door for more snaps for rookie Cedric Tillman.
A deal that makes sense for both sides and sends Peoples-Jones back home to the state he was born.
