Cleveland Browns may have to soon accept their big offseason move may not work out quite like they thought it would
The Browns picked up a slight win without lifting a finger on Monday night.
The Cleveland Browns are 1-4 on the season so far and have just the win over the Green Bay Packers to be happy about in terms of results on the field. Throughout the first five games, the Browns can also walk away feeling pretty good about their rookie class. The Browns have several rookies they took back in April’s draft already making real impacts in Cleveland.
Cleveland made a big trade on draft night back in April when they traded the right to draft Travis Hunter at No. 2 overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars and went on to select DT Mason Graham at No. 5 overall. Graham has a 64.4 pass rush grade thus far via Pro Football Focus and has seven pressures so far. The defensive tackle is just one part of that trade that the Browns made with the Jaguars, as they also drafted Quinshon Judkins in the second round and he looks like a star in the making.
Jaguars’ win over the Kansas City Chiefs is a loss for the Browns
Cleveland fans will want to monitor how the Jaguars do this season since the Browns own their first pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Heading into Monday night, the Jaguars’ pick was all the way at No. 26 overall. Jacksonville had an impressive Monday night win over the Kansas City Chiefs, as a result the Browns still have the No. 26 overall pick with Jacksonville sitting at 4-1 on the season. The season is still young but every win or loss matters here for the Jags. Jacksonville has a first year head coach in Liam Coen that has the team off to a hotter start than anyone could have pictured coming.
Jacksonville has a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on their season and that’s it. The Jaguars’ wins on the season have come against the Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers, and now the Chiefs. Upcoming for Jacksonville following their game on Monday night will be home games against the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams before having their bye week. Jacksonville getting two West Coast teams at home is a win for them.
Having two first-round picks next season is super valuable for the Browns with not only the opportunity to add two premium players, but having the capital to trade up if they need to. Browns general manager Andrew Berry has never been shy of making a trade, good or bad. We saw that play out back on draft night with the Jaguars, though that pick doesn’t look like it’ll be as high as many once thought it’d be.
