Saturday will be the final game of the season for the Cleveland Browns when they take on the Baltimore Ravens. Cleveland very well could end up being a 3-14 football team after the game.

This season is another lost campaign for the Browns. Cleveland lost Deshaun Watson a few games into the season and the Jameis Winston fun lasted just a few weeks.

Cleveland turned to Dorian Thompson-Robinson the last couple of weeks and now they’re turning the page again to another starter for the season finale.

Bailey Zappe getting an audition start in week 18 vs. the Ravens

Cleveland is set to start former New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe in the final game of the season. Zappe becomes the 40th different quarterback to start for Cleveland since they came back in 1999. Just like last season, the Browns are having to play musical chairs at the position this season.

Zappe is due to be a free agent after the season, so what he puts on the field will matter in Week 18. Last season, Zappe threw six touchdowns to nine interceptions in six starts for the Patriots. This year the Browns claimed him off of waivers from the Kansas City Chiefs after they parted ways.

"Obviously it's a great opportunity," Zappe earlier in the week about maybe starting. "Personally, I kind of look at it like I'm on a one-year deal here. I have no idea what the future holds for me, and it's a great opportunity for me to go out there and play football and get some film for people to watch. Hopefully, it's good film, but I'm excited for the opportunity."

For his career, Zappe has played in 17 career games since being a fourth-round pick by the Patriots in 2022.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski said on Thursday that both quarterbacks would play against Baltimore on Sunday. Thompson-Robinson had a combined four turnovers in the last two games. Cleveland took the job away from him for the same reason he earned it, which was turnover issues with Winston.

Zappe could potentially be a guy the Browns look to bring in as a No. 3 quarterback next season. He will get this final game to audition for Cleveland and every other team around the league.

Cleveland doesn’t have a whole lot to play for in Week 18. A loss would land them a top-3 pick in the draft likely, which may be the biggest win they could use at this point.
