A Cleveland Browns wide receiver that is in a tough battle for a roster spot has put together his latest highlight.

Austin Watkins Jr. is continuing to show off why he should make the Browns’ 53-man roster.

Watkins is a former USFL wide receiver that has done nothing but raise heads since joining the Browns during training camp. His climb to this moment hasn’t been easy since being undrafted out of UAB in 2021. During his redshirt junior season, Watkins had 1,092 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

The former UAB standout spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before he went to the Canadian Football League.

Making the Browns’ roster won’t be easy but there is an opportunity there in that sixth spot. Marquise Goodwin remains out indefinitely with blood clots, so there is a chance that someone else fills the void if he can’t go.

Anthony Schwartz and Jakeem Grant are battling for this spot along with Watkins, but neither has had the camp that Watkins has. The player the Browns didn’t see coming is coming off of six catches for 71 yards against the Washington Commanders. In the first preseason game against the Jets, Watkins had a 22-yard touchdown.

Watkins is making it hard for the Browns to cut him and this highlight catch in joint practices with the Philadelphia Eagles is just another example of that.
