Cleveland Browns might not be done at quarterback, and it could mean sticking it to an AFC North rival once more

The Cleveland Browns’ roller coaster ride to figure out their quarterback room has been never-ending for the most part of the last couple of decades. Cleveland’s first move this off-season at the position came earlier in the week when they traded for Kenny Pickett from the Philadelphia Eagles.
That won’t be it though, as the Browns are still expected to add at least two more quarterbacks this offseason.
It looks like the Browns are trying to bring in another former member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, as they are set to visit with Russell Wilson. Wilson is set to travel to Cleveland tonight and will meet with the veteran quarterback about the job.
Another former Pittsburgh Steelers QB to the Cleveland Browns?
It is clear that the Browns want to have Kenny Pickett battle it out for their backup position and he could potentially end up being trade bait around training camp. Securing a visit with Wilson shows that the Browns are indeed looking for the bridge type of quarterback while they develop a rookie.
Wilson was 6-5 as the starter of the Steelers last year and threw for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions. It was a one-year deal for Wilson, who was released from the Denver Broncos after just two seasons there.
Cleveland bringing in a 10-time Pro Bowler isn’t the worst of ideas, it sits in line with the idea of bringing in Kirk Cousins, which may not even be possible at this point.
Wilson is still receiving interest from the Steelers and the New York Giants. Both teams are in the sweepstakes to lane Aaron Rodgers, so that could play a part in all of this too. If the Browns were to sign Wilson, it would take an option away from Pittsburgh that they may be looking to fall back on.
At age 36, Wilson is a shell of his former shelf, while still being a capable starter. If the money and role are right for Wilson, don’t be surprised if he ends up in Cleveland.
Browns may be currently taking a serious gamble at the quarterback position that could backfire in a costly way
We are nearing the start of the new league year and have two full days of the legal tampering period behind us. The Cleveland Browns have made one move at quarterback and it came via a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to land Kenny Pickett. Cleveland still needs to bring in a bridge-type quarterback to […]
