A Cleveland Browns wide receiver already on the season-ending injured reserve just received some bad news.
Second-year wide receiver Michael Woods II has been suspended for the final six games of the season for violating the personal conduct policy.
Unfortunately, Woods suffered a torn Achilles before the season and was placed on the injured reserve where he’s spent the entirety of 2023.
As a rookie, Woods caught five passes for 45 yards in 10 games played last year. Cleveland selected the Oklahoma product in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Woods can be a deep threat and his straight-line speed was the reason the Browns selected him. Off-the-field issues don’t help out a late-round pick that hasn’t contributed at the professional level.
Next season if the Browns keep him around, Woods is going to have a tough clime to make the roster. A suspension for unrevealed reasons doesn’t bode well for him.
The future of the wide receiver position has a few questions that will have to be answered and what happens with Woods is one of them.
