Cleveland Browns did more than get it done in their Week 3 win over the Tennessee Titans.
The Browns clicked on all cylinders and defeated the Titans 27-3 to move to 2-1 on the 2023 campaign.
Coming away from the game, three things looked for sure in the win. Additionally, Deshaun Watson showed what he could be for the team and the defense continued its dominant start.
Myles Garrett dominated to start his DPOY campaign
Garrett was the best player on the field in Week 3 and has a dominant result to show for it. Taking the mismatch opportunity and running with it was what Garrett did. Cleveland’s star pass rusher finished with 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble against the Titans and left tackle Andre Dillard.
His ability to bullrush was on display, as Garrett pushed Dillard into the lap of Garrett multiple times. It was a dominating, game-wrecking performance you want to see.
Deshaun Watson gave the Browns what they’ve been waiting for
Against the Titans, the play was there for Watson which shows you a bit of what he did in his time with Houston. Watson had two touchdown passes and didn’t turn the ball over on his way to 289 yards passing. Overall, Watson was 27-of-33 passing.
Watson had multiple showings of his escapability and ability to extend the play, he looked a lot more comfortable and loose. Watson showed why the Browns traded for him in this one. It is something he will have to build off of.
Many of us were critical of Watson’s play, rightfully so, and he deserves the praise today. Watson stepped up in a big way when the Browns needed him to.
The defense set the tone for the Browns
Jim Schwartz and his defense set the tone for the whole team and it was energy that was fed off of. Play after play the defense made, guys were rowdy and jumping around, showing the kind of energy that is contagious.
All three phases of the defense played well and that’s a credit to who they are through the first three games. Schwartz was brought here for a reason and that much is obvious.
The Stefanski-led offense looked like they were having fun again, perhaps it is something that they will grow off of.
Browns’ Nick Chubb receives best news he could on season ending injury
Great news for the Browns running back.
