The Cleveland Browns were active in Berea during Week 7. The Browns hosted multiple free agents for a workout ahead of the matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.

Browns should be as healthy as they’ll be this week with quarterback Deshaun Watson likely returning. Still, the Browns have brought in seven players, potentially looking to find a guy for the practice squad.

Working out for the Browns was wide receiver Dazz Newsome, as already reported. Fellow wideouts Trinity Benson, Dezmon Patmon, and Makai Polk. Defensive backs Anthony Chelsey and Vincent Gray, as well as quarterback Adrian Martinez, worked out too, per the wire.

A few names hop off immediately. Patmon has some NFL experience with the Colts, where he was a sixth-round pick in 2020. With the Colts, Patmon played in 10 games and made four catches during that time.

Martinez played four years at Nebraska before going to Kansas State. The Browns like developmental projects that fit what they do. Martinez is a mobile quarterback who spent some time with the Detroit Lions in training camp.

Polk was intriguing during just final year of college when he went over 1,000 yards receiving for Mississippi State. At 6-foot-3, Polks runs a 4.5 40-yard dash. In the NFL so far, it’s been just practice squads for him.

At this point, the Browns have not yet signed any of the players to their practice squad. Expect some roster movement for the Browns next week.
