It happened again in Week 15 for the Cleveland Browns. Quarterback Jamies Winston coughed the ball up multiple times in a loss, it was almost like we had seen it before. We had and that’s why the Browns had no choice but to bench him in the fourth quarter.

Winston has piled up the yards at times for the Browns, but that has now been outshined by turnovers. In the 21-7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Winston threw three interceptions and it was the third straight game that he had thrown at least two interceptions. Cleveland’s offense has simply been handicapped by the turnovers.

The final interception came in the end zone and Chiefs defensive back Trent McDuffie admitted that the Jumbotron operated by the Browns helped him out.

“For whatever reason, I somehow glanced up at the Jumbotron because it was a scramble drill and just saw him launch it,” McDuffie via Kansascity.com. “I was like, ‘That’s to my side, so let me just turn around.’”

Following that interception in the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Browns turned to second-year quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson to take over. DTR completed just 4-of-9 passes for 19 yards and threw an interception himself.

Winston was 16-of-25 passing for 146 yards to go along with the three interceptions. The current Browns starter led the Browns to just 266 yards of total offense against Kansas City (13-1). Running back Nick Chubb was lost for the season against Kansas City in unfortunate fashion

Cleveland now is 3-11 on the season with a game against the Cincinnati Bengals ahead. Draft positioning is becoming more and more important for the Browns. The Browns apparently inadvertently helping the opponent in Week 15 is a symbol of the 2024 season.
