It was pretty much the best outcome possible for the Cleveland Browns in their 24-19 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cleveland got the win in a snowy environment with a great crowd behind them.
The injury bug was pretty nice to the Browns throughout this game, outside of one injury that popped up and forced the player to exit for the game.
Wide receiver Cedric Tillman has been a breakout player for the Browns as of late, and now he could be forced to miss a game potentially after taking a blow to his head on Thursday night.
“Ced (Cedric Tillman) has a concussion, so he’ll be in the protocol,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said after the win.
Tillman was injured on a hit by Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen after a catch he had made. Tillman was hit hard up high, but still kept his balance and wasn’t tackled on the hit by Queen. After a trip to the blue medical tent, Tillman was taken to the locker room where he was kept out of the game with the concussion.
Ever since the Browns decided to trade away Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills, Tillman has stepped into a much bigger role with the team. Tillman has had games with 99, 81, 75, and 47 yards since stepping into a bigger role. Against the Steelers, Tillman caught two passes for 28 yards through the tough snowy elements.
The Browns don’t play again until next Monday against the Denver Broncos, so the 11-day stretch could allow Tillman to miss no time. However, each concussion is different and that will have to be seen. Just suffering a concussion is still a worry.
If Tillman is to miss time, the Browns will need Elijah Moore to step up more, and perhaps rookie Jamari Thrash even gets into the mix a bit more. Jerry Jeudy is undoubtedly the team’s No. 1 option at this point.
Tillman has really come on as of late and made a big catch late that unfortunately resulted in him landing in the concussion protocol. Cleveland’s third win of the season did come at a cost.
