Cleveland Browns take a risk on an intriguing quarterback in latest 3-round 2026 NFL Mock Draft
Cleveland adds Alabama QB Ty Simpson amongst others in latest 2026 mock draft.
We’re past the NFL Scouting Combine and free agency will be here next week. The NFL is about to heat up with a ton of news in the coming week. For the Cleveland Browns, it should be an active free agency, but not overly aggressive.
Cleveland started its offseason changes with a trade for Houston Texans OT Tytus Howard to begin the week. Howard figures to be the Browns’ right tackle in the future, while the team will figure out the rest of the offensive line through free agency and the draft.
The Browns need another strong draft just like they had a year ago. Following the combine, A to Z Sports released a 3-round mock draft and this is how the picks went for the Browns.
Round 1, Pick 6: Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia
Round 1, Pick 24: Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama
Round 2, Pick 39: Gennings Dunker, OT, Iowa
Round 3, Pick 70: Will Lee III, CB, Texas A&M
My takeaways from the Browns’ 3-round 2026 NFL Mock Draft
Cleveland already having their right tackle very well could mean their left tackle is coming through the draft. I believe Freeling is the best true left tackle prospect in this class and he showed it off at the combine. Freeling is an athletic freak at 6-foot-7 with his best ball ahead of him.
While Freeling may face some growing pains early on, he has the makeup of everything you want in a tackle. Pairing Freeling with a quarterback in the first round hasn’t been a popular choice, but if they do take one it would be Alabama’s Simpson.
It’s known that the Browns are going to add another quarterback, though it’s more likely they add a veteran. Taking Dunker in the second gives the Browns another strong tackle option for the future, with the potential to slide him into guard.
Cleveland must continue to develop the cornerback position because Denzel Ward isn’t getting any younger. Lee would be a potential outside replacement in the coming years and fits the man coverage the Browns have typically played recently, though that could change under new defensive coordinator Mike Rutenberg.
A mock draft like this would only work out if the QB selection does. Taking a first-round quarterback and him not working out is costly, and it may not be something Andrew Berry is comfortable doing outside of Fernando Mendoza.

The Browns would be better off if Dane Brugler’s mock became reality.
