The Cleveland Browns have had a tough start to the season, beginning with a game against the Cincinnati Bengals that they probably should have won. Cleveland lost that matchup 17-16 but held the Bengals to under 150 total yards. It’s the kind of game the Browns may look back on this season and feel like they let slip away. Now, they’ll travel to face the Baltimore Ravens before a three-game stretch against the NFC North.
Coming off a 3-14 season, the Browns are in no position to give opponents bulletin board material—especially not a team like Baltimore, which is clearly a tier above them. Still, Jerry Jeudy got the trash talk started on Wednesday, and safety Grant Delpit kept it going on Thursday with a jab at Ravens running back Derrick Henry. When asked how difficult it is to bring Henry down, Delpit responded with a smile, “Not hard.”

Naturally, Henry was asked about Delpit’s comment, and he made it clear he’d heard it. The All-Pro running back replied: “We’ll see on Sunday,” in a definitive tone.
The Browns did well enough against Henry in their first meeting last season, holding him to 73 yards. In fact, he had topped 80 rushing yards just once in his previous five games against Cleveland while with the Tennessee Titans. But in last year’s season finale, Henry ran wild, piling up 138 yards and two touchdowns in a Ravens win. Considering Cleveland already struggles to contain quarterback Lamar Jackson, adding Henry into the mix is a major problem.
As mentioned earlier, the Browns simply aren’t in a place as a franchise to give opponents extra motivation. The trash talk doesn’t make sense for a team that just picked No. 2 overall in the draft and isn’t projected by anyone to make the playoffs in 2025. Cleveland needs to perform first, let their play do the talking, and save the chirping for afterwards. Giving Henry additional fuel for the Ravens’ home opener is the wrong approach.

The Cleveland Browns’ offense was good enough to win in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals, but they lost the game 17-16. A missed field goal and a missed extra point were the difference, though two turnovers on passes that hit wide receivers in the hands played a role as well. Cleveland outgained Cincinnati 327-141 […]
