Deshaun Watson confirmed whether or not he will play in the Cleveland Browns’ second preseason game against the Washington Commanders.
After not playing against the New York Jets, Watson said he will start against the Commanders on Friday.
At the moment, Watson is unsure of how long he will play against Washington.
“Just kind of get myself back in a routine to get ready for the season,” Watson said on the goal for Friday.
Last preseason, Watson played sparingly as he prepared to take on an 11-game suspension for violating the player’s conduct policy. With that behind him, he’s been able to take a full offseason in with the Browns in his second year there. There are always questions around whether or not you should play your starting quarterback in the preseason.
Cleveland’s starting quarterback said he won’t know if there’s any rust until he’s on the field in an in-game situation.
“The biggest thing is to go out there with an open mind. It’s still very basic in what we will show and won’t show,” said Watson.
Following Watson on Friday, the quarterback order isn’t known yet. Kevin Stefasnki will likely make that available today.
The Browns welcome in the Commanders for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on Friday, in a game that just got a bit more exciting.
