The Cleveland Browns may be penny-pinching come the 2024 season.

So naturally, Deshaun Watson's contract will be the primary focus of the offseason. Watson is the only quarterback in 2024 who will have more than a $60 million cap hit. If the Browns rework the Watson deal, the team could free up more than $30 million, but Andrew Berry, in an interview with The Athletic, doesn't feel like it is a necessity.

"I'll be honest, I'm not there yet," Berry said to Zac Jackson. "It's not a necessity (to lower that), but it just kind of depends on how we put the plan together."

The Browns are expected to be $19 million over the cap this offseason, according to Over The Cap projections.

That situation can be remedied by reworking multiple players' contracts, one of them being Watson.

And if anyone needs their contract reworked, it is Watson. He has played in 12 games since he first joined the team. In two seasons, Watson has amassed 2,217 yards, 14 touchdowns, nine interceptions and has a 59.8 completion percentage.

In the 2023 season, he was the second-best quarterback after Joe Flacco stole the show following Watson's season-ending injury.

The Browns haven't admitted concerns over Watson's play. Berry is on record stating that he wants Watson to be healthy.

However, the Browns general manager must admit that reworking Watson's contract needs to be a priority more than anything else on the offseason docket.
