Cleveland Browns make the perfect pick to go along with free agency in ESPN’s latest 2026 NFL mock draft
The Browns taking their final missing piece to the offensive line at No. 6 overall makes a ton of sense.
The Cleveland Browns went into free agency with a clear plan to address the free agency and they’ve done a solid job of doing that so far.
Cleveland started free agency by adding G Zion Johnson from the Los Angeles Chargers, then re-signed Teven Jenkins on Tuesday. The Browns made another notable move to add former Green Bay Packers C Elgton Jenkins on Tuesday evening.
When you factor in the trade for Tytus Howard from the Houston Texans, the Browns look to only need to figure out left tackle. ESPN’s latest mock draft has the Browns doing just that.
Browns land left tackle of the future in ESPN’s latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft
ESPN’s Field Yates has the Browns selecting Georgia OT Monroe Freeling in his latest mock following the first two days of tampering ahead of the new league year.
“He could develop into Cleveland’s starting left tackle, as his ability to mirror rushers with his lateral agility and length at 6-foot-7 (34¾-inch arms) stand out. The ideal situation for Freeling would be spending time as a sixth offensive lineman right out of the gate, but most teams picking this high can’t offer that.” — Field Yates, ESPN
Freeling is an athletic freak along the offensive line and has everything you want in a long-term left tackle. Freeling had a 33.5 inch vertical and 4.95 second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine. There’s some belief Freeling would be a top-10 lock if he returned to college for another season to fine-tune parts of his game and get more play on tape.
While he potentially would start Day 1, the Browns may not have to do it if they were to draft him. Someone like Dawand Jones could get one last chance at left tackle before Freeling is handed the job after he gets his feet under him in the league.
In a class lacking high-end tackle projects, Freeling has the highest ceiling of them all. Cleveland has a major need at left tackle and is easily the home making the most sense for Freeling early in this draft.
Having two first-round picks makes it important the Browns hit on them to speed up their rebuild. Taking Freeking with the first pick has been a hot topic since the combine and it looks like it still could be the move following a couple of days of free agency.
