Former Browns QB Baker Mayfield calls out Kevin Stefanski on social media for what he didn’t do after after Cleveland shipped him away
The former Browns quarterback is already making the 2026 NFL season interesting.
Baker Mayfield and Kevin Stefanski were once a big part of the present and future with the Cleveland Browns. Following the 2025 season, it marks the first time since 2018 that neither is with the team.
Stefanski landed on another head coaching job quickly with the Atlanta Falcons after being fired by the Browns — and he’s now set to play his former quarterback twice a year. An interesting layer just got added to that matchup.
Baker Mayfield calls out Kevin Stefanski on X years after the Browns trade with the Panthers
Cleveland traded Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers ahead of the 2022 season after making a move for Deshaun Watson. It was the nail in the coffin for the 2018 No. 1 overall pick’s Browns tenure that was once so promising.
Since GM Andrew Berry agreed to terms to send Mayfield to the Panthers, the former Browns and now Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback says he hasn’t heard from Stefanski.
“Failed is quite the reach pal. Still waiting on a text/call from him after I got shipped off like a piece of garbage. Can’t wait to see you twice a year, Coach,” Mayfield posted on X.
Mayfield threw for 14,125 yards and 92 touchdowns over four seasons with the Browns. After a down 2021 season where Mayfield was injured but still played — the Browns traded him for a fifth-round pick that could become a fourth-rounder. Mayfield has since proven to be a franchise-level quarterback with two Pro Bowls while leading the Buccaneers.
Stefanski will look to regain his footing in Atlanta after going 8-26 over his final two seasons in Cleveland. The 2026 season now has two matchups between the Falcons and Buccaneers that are must-watch.
