It has made sense for a while but DE Jadeveon Clowney has officially signed with an AFC North rival of the Cleveland Browns.

Clowney has inked a deal with the Baltimore Ravens just a season after he played with the Browns.

The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft spend two seasons with the Browns before his exit.

The Ravens needed another capable pass rusher with Odafe Oweh, Tyus Bowser, and David Ojabo in that room. None of those edge rushers are exactly proven in the NFL.

Clowney is coming off of perhaps the worst year of his career in terms of production. He recorded two sacks in 12 games, he has only recorded less two times and they were both injury-shortened seasons.

In 2021, Clowney was a plus to the Browns’ defense with nine sacks opposite of Myles Garrett.

As always, Clowney waits until close to training camp to sign and that’s what he did again. The former South Carolina standout waited for the best deal and the place that made the most sense for him to sign.

If Clowney’s goal was to show his old team he still has it, he will have that chance twice a year.

Cleveland sent Clowney home a game early in 2022 after he became a locker room issue, simply put.

Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski was asked his thoughts on Clowney signing with the Ravens on Friday.

"I wish any of our former players luck, but beyond that, I'm not going to comment,” Stefanski said.

In 2023, Clowney will play on his fifth team in 10 seasons. He will get his chance against the Browns in weeks 4 and 9.
