Relationships matter in the Cleveland Browns’ latest signing is just another example of that.

In his first media availability as a member of the Browns, QB Joe Flacco revealed that Gary Kubiak played a part in him signing with the Browns. The Super Bowl 50 winning head coach worked in Minnesota with Kevin Stefanski for a couple of years before Stefanski was hired by the Browns.

“Gary Kubiak gave me a call and had a lot of praise for these guys,” explained Flacco. “I trust Gary’s word, I was only with him one year. A very honest man and what he says goes.”

Flacco had Kubiak as his offensive coordinator in the 2014 season and it just happens to be probably the best season of Flacco’s career statistically.

Joining Cleveland is a bit different for Flacco, a guy who spent the first 11 years of his career with the Baltimore Ravens. The Browns needed a veteran with how the season has gone at the position and he fit the mold.

"They seem like a very close group,” Flacco said of his impression of the team. “These guys have obviously have really put it together on defense."

Stefanski has already said that rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson would be the starter against the Broncos in Week 12 after his win over the Steelers. The rookie believes that adding Flacco is a plus.

"Anytime you can add experience which, as a rookie, it's something you need, it's awesome,” DTR said on Wednesday.

Whether we ever see Flacco playing as a member of the Browns on the field depends on how the next couple of games go for the rookie and how quickly Flacco has a firm idea of the offense.

For now, Flacco remains a member of the practice squad, though he’s expected to make it to the active roster at some point.
