Things are trending in a tough direction for the Cleveland Browns in Week 6 of the NFL season.
Quarterback Deshaun Watson did not practice again on Thursday in preparation for the San Francisco 49ers. Counting Monday, it is the third practice of the week that Watson has not been a participant in.
Left guard Joel Bitonio did not practice either, nor did tight end David Njoku.
“We're going to give (Deshaun Watson) every chance to make it. Just have to wait until the shoulder gets healed up. He's doing everything he can,” said offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt.
Cleveland is going to rely on P.J. Walker from the practice squad if Watson does not play. It will be the second elevation from the Browns’ practice squad for Walker, you can only do it three times before signing or releasing.
The Browns chose to start rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson against the Ravens and did not go well. By pulling him from the backup spot so quickly, questions arise on whether it was the right choice.
Bitonio (knee) remaining out is a concern, he hasn’t practiced since before the Ravens game and has spent time on crutches. For Njoku, he’s dealing with a recovery from burns to his face and arm.
There is some good news for the Browns, center Ethan Pocic is practicing for the second straight day after getting banged up against the Ravens before the bye week.

The Browns are now even bigger underdogs.
