The latest news around free agent DE Jadeveon Clowney is interesting.
After spending the last two seasons with the Cleveland Browns, Clowney could soon be playing for their rival.
The veteran pass rusher was in the Baltimore area visiting with the Ravens today, according to The Athletic.
Clowney was a good signing for Cleveland in 2021 when he totaled his second-most sacks in a season with nine. The following season, the Browns brought the pass rusher back on another deal and it just did not work out.
In 2022, Clowney had just two sacks in 12 games played and gave Cleveland no help opposite of Myles Garrett. Cleveland was okay with letting him walk to upgrade the position and did so by signing Ogbonnia Okornkwo and trading for Za’Darius Smith.
At the end of 2022, the Browns sent Clowney home a game early after he told a local reporter that he is 95 percent should he wouldn’t be back, and that he needs somebody that believes in him.
If Clowney strikes a deal in Baltimore, the Browns will be seeing a player they know all too well. It could be a pretty interesting development. Baltimore needs help on the edge as they’re leaning heavily on young players like David Ojabo and Odafe Oweh.
In nine NFL seasons, Clowney has played for four teams. He is on the brink of finding his fifth team and it may just be Cleveland’s rival.
