At last, the Cleveland Browns will have another Pro Bowl/All-Pro on the field for his debut with the team.
Return man Jakeem Grant Sr. will make his long-awaited Browns’ debut on Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs in preseason action.
Grant suffered an Achilles injury that kept him out all of 2022 after the Browns signed him as a free agent.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed during media availability on Wednesday that Grant would return punts and kickoffs for his first live-action with the team.
Through camp, the Browns have slowly ramped up the three-time Pro Bowler following a very tough Achilles injury last training camp. Grant has been the first team returner as long as he has been on the field this training camp.
Grant has just 1,140 receiving yards in six seasons but that’s not his calling card. In his career, Grant has housed four punt returns and two kickoffs for a touchdown. He last returned a punt for a touchdown in 2021 with the Chicago Bears, after leaving the Miami Dolphins, a team he spent his first five seasons in the NFL with.
Cleveland expects to play all of their starters that can play for a couple of series on Saturday. It’s going to be a bit more special for Grant, though.
Deshaun Watson says he has the ‘keys’ to control a lot of things for Browns offense
It looks like the offense is going to open up a lot for Deshaun Watson this year.
