Joe Flacco sends firm message on the job he signed up for with the Cleveland Browns after the disappointment in Week 4 vs. Lions
The Browns have a lot of work to do on offense and that includes at quarterback.
The Cleveland Browns are what they are through four weeks of the 2025 season and that is a bad football team. Cleveland is 1-3 after a lopsided loss to the Detroit Lions where the theme of their season struck again; the Browns do not have a capable offense at this point. Cleveland will be in London next week against the Minnesota Vikings and things won’t change if the Browns continue to beat themselves like they did against Detroit.
Joe Flacco sends message on his role with the offense in Cleveland
“I know what I signed up for,” Flacco said after the loss to the Lions. “I signed up for coming in and competing for a job and then leading this team to victories. You know that everybody’s always being evaluated in this league.”
Flacco has technically led the Browns to one victory and that was Week 3 at home against the Green Bay Packers. But even that game it was the Browns defense and kicking game that drove them to the win at home where they look to be a different football team again in 2025. Flacco was 16-of-34 passing for just 184 yards and had two interceptions to his credit. Cleveland’s wide receivers led by Jerry Jeudy did the veteran quarterback no favors with drops and the inability to help the quarterback when needed.
Cleveland’s defense kept them in it against Detroit much of the game. Lions QB Jared Goff was held to 168 passing yards and threw an interception to Denzel Ward to go along with two touchdowns. Cleveland not sustaining drives hurt the Browns in this one, as did special teams. The Browns have to be weighing a quarterback change to some degree with possibly bringing in Dillon Gabriel, but it’s fair to say there are other issues than just Flacco right now.
