The Cleveland Browns have made one signing so far nearly seven hours into free agency. Cleveland signing G Zion Johnson gives them a starter on the interior, but more work remains to be done.

Cleveland has all five starters from last season’s offensive line now free agents. The Browns added OT Tytus Howard in a trade with the Houston Texans, but still have up to three positions to figure out.

Browns were interested in top free agent who signed with the New York Giants

Cleveland still has to figure out its left tackle position and it appears they were trying to sign a free agent to fill the void.

According to Art Stapleton, the Browns and Kansas City Chiefs were the two teams pushing to sign OT Jermaine Eluemunor before he signed a three-year deal worth up to $39 million to return to the New York Giants.

Eluemunor has experience as both a left and right tackle as a starter over the last four seasons. The veteran offensive tackle was originally a fifth-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens back in 2022. Eluemunor spent two seasons with the Ravens and New England Patriots each as a backup before landing with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021.

In 2022, Eluemunor became a starter with the Ravens and has been since between there and with New York.

Free agent tackles still out there for the Browns

While Cleveland missed on Eluemunor, signing a deal at $13 million a year is good news for the tackle market. Former Green Bay Packers LT Rasheed Walker and Chicago Bears OT Braxton Hines are two players out there who could be a fit for the Browns.

Both would be second contract players and Walker is likely to earn more than Eluemunor did, but the amount may not come in north of $20 million a year like some believed it could.
