There is no victory Monday for Cleveland to open the season following the ugly, ugly loss they were handed by the Dallas Cowboys.

In the end, it was a 33-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys that was not as close as the score says. It felt like Cleveland lost by a lot more than two possessions.

It took just one week for fans to let the booing ring throughout Huntington Bank Field. Cleveland was booed into the locker room at halftime and late in the game as the Cowboys put them away.

One of the leaders of the team, Myles Garrett, has the perfect approach to booing that fans won’t mind.

“They have the right to tell us however they feel,” Garrett said after the loss. “I mean, if we’re not playing well, they have the right to boo. If we’re kicking a**, they have the right to cheer. It’s their privilege. They come in, they pay to see us do well and we didn’t, and we got to put on better performance if we expect them to go out there and support us in full force. So we got to be better, and that’s all on us.”

Garrett recorded multiple pressures and a sack of Dak Prescott. Overall, the defense played well but was put in a bad position by the offense time and time again.

When it comes to booing, Garrett has a point. The NFL is a thing because of the money that the fans put into the game. These players have lucrative contracts in large part because of the fans. When things are not going well, it should not be a problem for fans to let them know.

“It’s very disappointing. That’s about it. It’s very disappointing. But it’s one game. Don’t want to start the season out like that, but not the first time that a good team has lost the first game, and won’t be the last. Just got to increase our attention to detail, our focus, and come back better next week.”

Cleveland will need to turn it around quickly. They will travel to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2, where they will try to right the ship on the road. For now, fans are not happy and they have the right to be.
