Things just aren’t looking good for the Cleveland Browns at this point in the season.

The Cleveland Browns are a 1-5 football team with not much going for them besides the progress of a promising rookie class. Cleveland has already had a quarterback change from Joe Flacco to Dillon Gabriel, and it had to watch Flacco and the Cincinnati Bengals beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night because of a decision they made.

Cleveland has the worst offense in the NFL, averaging a league-worst 13.7 points per game. The Browns have the makings of an elite defense, and they’ve shown that this season. However, the incapable offense has reached the point where it doesn’t matter how well the defense plays. As a result, it makes sense that defensive players are becoming frustrated.

Myles Garrett is very frustrated, and it’s easy to see

Cleveland is coming off a 23-9 loss to the Steelers, and it hurts a little more now after watching what the Bengals and Flacco did to them. The Browns struggled on offense like the score shows, and they had just 65 rushing yards. Nearly a week later, Garrett has publicly pointed out that he disagrees with how the Browns handled that game on offense.

“I would’ve liked to seen us stuck to the run a little bit, especially with a dynamic player like Quinshon [Judkins], hell even Dylan [Sampson],” Garrett said on Friday. “With both of them getting the ball, both of them have different styles but effective runners in their own right. So I would have liked to see it, but they saw it differently.”

Kevin Stefanski is the play caller in Cleveland, and there is no need to beat around the bush on who Garrett is disagreeing with here. It’s not a good look for the Browns that their star defender, who is the cornerstone of the team, is again frustrated months after receiving a contract worth $120 million.

Garrett has four sacks on the season and hasn’t had one in the last three games, so his play on the field plays a part in his frustration. But for the Browns to have their All-Pro speaking out already shows the state of the team.

Cleveland has a great opportunity ahead of it on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, who are 1-5 as well. The weather is not supposed to be great and very windy, so we’re likely looking at a game where the defense will once have to be the one to get it done.

At some point this season, the Browns will have to show more on offense, or changes will come. A rookie at quarterback can’t be an excuse because this is the roster that the Browns have put together, and they chose to take two rookies back in April with Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.

Garrett has every reason to be frustrated with how this season has gone in Northeast Ohio. A season after three Browns went 3-14, they’ve shown no real improvement and are sitting with five losses in six games. Things look like they’re close to completely derailing, and Garrett speaking out shows the cracks in the foundation.

The Browns badly need a win on Sunday against the Dolphins, as badly as ever.
