NFL insider’s latest update on David Njoku shows things might be heading toward a nightmare scenario for Cleveland Browns fans
David Njoku joining a division rival is the last thing Cleveland Browns fans will want to see.
This offseason was always going to bring a fair amount of change for the Cleveland Browns, given where they’re at. Free agency has brought a lot of change to Cleveland, with several of its former key pieces heading out the door.
On Tuesday, former Browns G Wyatt Teller signed with the Houston Texans. The Browns have brought three new starting offensive linemen in over the past couple of weeks and there’s still work to do.
Ex-Browns TE David Njoku is another player who is likely to find a landing spot soon, though Cleveland fans won’t like where he’s trending.
David Njoku is showing major interest in the Baltimore Ravens
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Njoku visited the Ravens on Tuesday as a free agent. Baltimore lost both Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar as free agents, so they could use another addition alongside Mark Andrews.
Njoku spent nine seasons with the Browns and embraced Cleveland to the fullest since he was drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Njoku struggled with some inconsistencies early on, but blossomed into one of the better tight ends by 2022. Njoku was named to his only Pro Bowl in 2023 when he caught 81 passes for 882 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
The Browns drafted Harold Fannin Jr. last season and his quick rise to being the team’s top tight end as a rookie with 731 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Njoku’s production dropped to 293 receiving yards in 12 games and the writing was on the wall for it to be his last season in Cleveland.
Cleveland has made one free agent tight addition with Jack Stoll set to be the No. 3 tight end as a blocker. The Browns could still use another tight end who could play both in-line and out wide.
Njoku hasn’t decided on where he’s headed next yet, but it would be a real gut punch for Browns fans if it’s to their AFC North rival.
