The Tennessee Titans may be heading toward a rebuild and one outlet has the Cleveland Browns taking advantage of that.
Conor Orr of Sports Illustrated has the Browns trading for All-Pro running back Derrick Henry to stabilize their offense. It would be a big get for the Browns overall, who have been hurt on offense by a combination of things including a season-ending injury to Nick Chubb.
Cleveland has playoff aspirations and a defense that can compete with anyone. The issue is the offense has been less than mediocre and Deshaun Watson has been injured for more than half the season thus far.
In the proposed trade, the Browns give up a third-round pick in the 2024 draft and sixth sixth-round pick in the 2025 draft. Cleveland would be responsible for what is left of a $16.4 million cap hit this season. Henry is a free agent following the season.
This would be a rental for Cleveland with the Browns planning to have Chubb back next season, they would not resign Henry. Cleveland can afford to do this draft compensation-wise, the biggest hit would be the money spent this year wouldn’t roll over.
Henry is one of the game’s best still and is nearing 9,000 rushing yards in his eight-year career and has a season over 2,000 rushing yards.
With the Browns needing a spark on offense, Henry would he just that in what would be a splash trade.
