One of the biggest question marks for the Cleveland Browns in 2024 is running back Nick Chubb. When he comes back and the impact that he has is going to be very impactful for the Browns.
The serious knee injury that Chubb suffered in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers was a huge knock on the 2023 season.
With Chubb having missed pretty much the entire 2023 season, some folks may forget just how good he is around the league. In ESPN’s running back rankings, there were executives, coaches, and scouts who ranked the top 10 at the position. Despite playing just over a game in 2023, Chubb was listed as the No. 3 back in the league by those who voted.
One NFL executive said what everyone else is likely thinking about Chubb and where he is ranked.
"He would be No. 1 for me if healthy," an AFC executive said. "Even though I'm not sure how he's going to look, he deserves to be high."
Chubb went over 1,000 yards rushing each of the previous four seasons before 2023. As a rookie, Chubb only started nine of the 16 games but still finished with 996 yards on the ground. To say he has been anything short of consistent and productive since entering the NFL would be a lie.
Christian McCaffrey was No. 1 on the list and that is a deserved nod for the guy who was a legit candidate for the MVP in my opinion brings the pass-catching element at a high level that most running backs can not and that is what separates him.
Chubb can prove in 2024 that he is still the best pure runner in the game. His combination of strength, speed, and ability to make a guy miss has been next to none in the NFL.
Cleveland signed running back D’Onta Foreman and will rely on Jerome Ford as well until Chubb is ready. Browns fans and all involved will be holding their breath the first time that Chubb touches the ball after what happened last time.
