The countdown continues until the NFL Draft with the Super Bow now wrapped up, one of the most fun parts of the NFL offseason.

April’s draft will present another opportunity for the Browns to add depth and better their roster.

While free agency will dictate a lot of what teams do in the draft, still many fits exist between draft prospects and teams.

With that being said, I have another mock selection for the Browns’ second-round pick this week.

Round 2, Pick 54: DL Brandon Dorlus (Oregon)

Dorlus is a player that I believe the Browns would gladly pounce on if he is there at pick No. 54. The 22-year-old has been a pretty productive defender for Oregon over the last three seasons.

As a redshirt junior in 2022, Dorlus had 39 tackles (9.5 tackles for loss), and 2.5 sacks. This past college season, Dorlus put together five sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss as a senior.

Dorlus is 6-foot-3 and will float around the 280-pound range. Coming into the NFL, he is a ‘tweener’ because he is not really big enough the play the 3-tech but ideally too big for the edge full time. Still, he’s an impactful defender that can win.

A solid run defender that can set the edge and has an ideal compact frame to do just that. Dorlus has active hands and a high motor to win, as he isn’t overly explosive and doesn’t have great bend off of the edge. He is a player that can flash effort plays here and there.

Perhaps at the pro level, Dorlus will work toward a higher or lower weight goal that best fits where he lands. If it is Cleveland, lining up Dorlus in five-man fronts is appealing, very appealing actually. He’s a player you’re going to move along the defensive line.

Za’Darius Smith, Maurice Hurst, Jordan Elliott, and Shelby Harris are all free agents for the Browns along the offensive line. To keep costs down, investing picks in the trenches is what the Browns need to do for the future. Dorlus would fit that mold.

Draft season will continue on and we’ll let in on other fits. Dorlus is a player that I am interested to see through the process over the next two months.
