Browns receiving a gift of a defensive player from Ohio State in the 2025 NFL Draft would be an ideal fit

The Cleveland Browns have been drafting more Ohio State players in recent years than they normally had in the past. Mike Hall Jr. was the latest player to enter the pipeline and Ohio State could be sending another player to Cleveland next draft cycle.
Cleveland has a few veterans in the middle of the defensive line that may not be on the team next year. The 33rd Team’s mock draft with the Browns selecting Tyleik Williams at No. 13 overall is a nice fit that makes sense.
Williams lined up alongside Hall at Ohio State the last couple of years before Hall was selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Williams could have entered the NFL Draft and chose to return to Columbus for another season. Now, he is expected to be one of the top interior players for the 2025 draft cycle.
“Regardless of Hall Jr.'s availability, Cleveland has several short-term answers at the position and could welcome more talent into the room. The Browns have aging veterans Dalvin Tomlinson and Shelby Harris at the top of the depth chart, and veteran backups Quinton Jefferson and Maurice Hurst are on one-year deals that expire after 2024.” – Kyle Crabbs, The 33rd Team
Williams had 53 tackles (10 TFL), and three sacks last season for the Buckeyes. Through one week, Williams has a sack and seven tackles to his credit for this season. He is a big 6-foot-3, 330-pound human who can stop the run and provide a pass rush from the interior.
Cleveland has veterans like Maurice Hurst, Shelby Harrison, and Quinton Jefferson on the roster who may not be on the roster next year. This year it is nice to have because the Browns don’t need Hall to make an impact right away, and he won’t due to being on the Commissioner's Exempt List.
Williams and Cleveland could be a match to watch next draft cycle. Wide receiver and defensive tackle very well could be the position that the Browns want to target with a first-round pick, something they haven’t had in three years due to the Deshaun Watson trade. While all eyes are on the Dallas Cowboys and Week 1, it is never too early to be thinking about the next draft cycle for some of us.
Ohio State WR commit Chris Henry Jr.’s comment regarding Bengals’ Joe Burrow should surprise no one
The two could be on the same gridiron one day.
